Chaz Perera is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Roots, a company pioneering the use of AI Agents to revolutionize the workplace.
With a wealth of experience in the financial services industry and a deep understanding of business operations, Chaz is dedicated to helping organizations enhance their productivity and efficiency through intelligent automation.
As CEO of Roots, Chaz leads the company’s vision and strategy, focusing on the development and deployment of AI Agents that seamlessly integrate into existing business processes. Under his leadership, the company has quickly become a leader in the AI space, known for its innovative solutions that empower businesses to scale more effectively and reduce operational costs.
Before co-founding Roots, Chaz had a 14-year tenure at AIG where he held executive global roles in claims, operations and strategy – gaining significant expertise in driving operational excellence and digital transformation initiatives.
His strategic insights and operational acumen have been instrumental in shaping Roots Automation’s unique approach to combining human ingenuity with machine intelligence.
Robin L. Spaulding is an experienced insurance executive and consultant with over three decades of expertise in property and casualty insurance. Most recently, shehas focused on integrating AI technologies into claims operations, helping clients modernize and optimize their claims value chains. She holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Claims (AIC) designations.
Beginning her career as a claims representative trainee, she held a series of progressively senior roles across multiple insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and a managed care company, culminating in her position as Divisional Vice President of Claims. Following her tenure in the industry, Robin transitioned into consulting, where she advised clients on future-state strategy development, Target Operating Models, and insurance platform implementations.
Michael Anderson serves as the Industry Advisory Lead for Claims at Guidewire Software, working with global claim executives to help develop their long-term claim strategy and vision. Michael has over 30 years of P&C insurance experience including Claim leadership roles at Travelers Insurance, has led several Global AI teams within the P&C industry and granted several US patents on claims automation.
Cody Cook serves as the executive vice president of Claims at Erie Insurance.
Cook joined ERIE in 2003 as an actuary in Personal Lines and predictive modeling. In 2017, he was named senior vice president of Personal Products, and in 2020 he became senior vice president of Claims, joining ERIE’s Executive Council in this capacity in 2024.
Cook serves on the board of directors for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) as part of the finance committee. He also serves as a board member for ServErie.
Cook holds a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science & statistics from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He’s also a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) and a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).
